Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley
The major reworking of the western segment of Central Park in Two Rivers is progressing well.
City Manager Greg Buckley was on WOMT’s Be My Guest program Wednesday (July 6th) and spoke about the funding drive for the Central Park West 365 project.
“We expect to be going out for bids in August for construction with likely the bulk of construction happening next spring,” he explained. “Fundraising is going well. We reported to City Council last night that we’re at just over $608,000 toward our fundraising goal of $800,000, so we’re just a tad over 75% of the way there.”
Plans for the park include a new band stage along with several other amenities.
Buckley was asked by a listener about progress at the former Paragon property, which has been idle for several years.
While no progress is visible from the outside, he said a lot has been happening inside.
Buckley explained that, “The check cleared the bank from Art Dumke, the gentleman from Oshkosh who purchased it for $1.2 million, that’s the initial good news. I haven’t been in the building, but I hear from our inspectors and the fire department that rehabilitation of the sprinkler system, interior painting are going on, arrangements have been made through our electric utility for new electric service so as we speak there’s investment going on in the critical infrastructure of the building to return it to productive private use.”
The developer has plans for a number of industrial tenants to eventually occupy space in the building, but Buckley said the city is not aware of specific potential tenants.
