The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers wasted a strong outing by Israel Puello as their bats fell silent in a 3-0 loss to the South Bend Cubs.
Puello pitched 7 innings, allowing only three hits, and one walk, and struck out four batters. One of those hits was a solo home run, so Puello was tagged with the loss.
The only Rattler baserunner to reach second base was Tristan Peters, who hit a double.
Only four other runners reached base, one on balls, as the Rattlers fell for only the second time since the start of the second half of the season.
The Appleton-based ballclub will have a chance at revenge today, as the two teams square off for game three of their six-game series.
