The Nashville City Council has put the hot-button issue of hosting the Republican National Convention on hold for now.
A bill to approve the agreement for the convention to come to the Tennessee city was removed from the agenda for Tuesday’s regular meeting.
Resistance has been growing in the city even though top officials in both the Democratic and Republican parties have come out asking for both conventions to be held there.
Nashville and Milwaukee are finalists for the 2024 event that could bring tens of millions of dollars to the local economy.
Milwaukee has already approved its presentation.
