Pro-life groups are condemning Attorney General Josh Kaul’s lawsuit seeking to overturn Wisconsin 1849 law criminalizing abortion.
In a statement from Wisconsin Family Action, its President Julaine Appling says Kaul’s job is to defend state laws – not challenge a duly enacted statute that he and the governor disagree with.
Legislative Director Matt Sande said the abortion ban is in effect and that’s why providers are no longer performing the procedure.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has pledged to uphold the law.
