In local amateur baseball last night: the Manitowoc Bandits jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and cruised to an 8-2 win over the Branch Blaze last night.
Winning pitcher Luke Mandich worked 5 innings and allowed only 3 hits with 5 strikeouts.
Leading the way offensively for the Bandits was Earl Vorpagel who went 2 for 5 including a double.
Ridge Guyette and Chris Rohr added 2 hits apiece for Manitowoc, which is off through the July 4th weekend.
The Bandits (5-1 in the Shoreland League) return to action Wednesday night at Municipal Field against the Ashwaubenon Lookouts.
In local baseball today, Manitowoc Legion Post 88 is scheduled to host Green Bay Southwest.
First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. at Municipal Field.
