The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office says they have received several reports of people receiving phone calls from people claiming to be a part of the Department.
The Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that they will never ask for payment over the phone, and they will never ask for you to pay with a gift card.
As is the case anytime you get a suspicious phone call, if you receive a call claiming to be from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office and you are unsure if it is real or not, hang up and call them directly at 920-832-5605.
The Appleton Police Department has also reportedly had several similar scams occur recently.
