The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers needed a series like the one they just had.
After losing six games in a row, the Appleton-based baseball team picked up five consecutive wins over the Quad Cities River Bandits in front of a home crowd.
The Ratters beat the bandits 4-3 on Friday, 5-3 Saturday, and 6-5 Sunday.
The Rattlers did have some big-league help Sunday, as Kolton Wong made a rehab appearance, going 1 for 2 at the plate, and got the home team on the board early with a lead-off home run.
Also of note in Sunday’s game, Joey Matulovich came on in the 8th inning and earned the win after allowing only one hit, while Cam Robinson got the save with a near-flawless 9th inning.
He struck out 2 of the last three batters and allowed no one on base.
The Rattlers will take today off before taking on the top team in the Midwest League’s West Division the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
The Kernels won the first half of the season by 6.5 games over the Rattlers.
