The Green Bay Police Department is reminding residents of a little quirk in the OWI laws.
If you are riding on an electric scooter after drinking, you can be nabbed with an OWI.
If a scooter, or anything with wheels, is being self-propelled, it is considered a motor vehicle and will be treated as such when it comes to OWI.
This information comes as many people may be wanting to try the new Bird scooters located throughout downtown Green Bay.
In a post on Facebook, the GBPD stated, “Have fun, but be safe and be courteous to others while operating e scooters or e-bikes.”
