A federal appeals court has ruled in favor of two Wisconsin students who wanted to wear shirts bearing gun logos to school.
Both instances happened just over two years ago.
A student at Shattuck Middle School in Neenah and another at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales were told they couldn’t wear the shirts that had images of guns.
The appeals court judges noted that the dress codes at the two schools didn’t expressly ban clothing featuring firearms.
The students sued, saying the schools violated their First Amendment free speech rights.
The schools say both students had histories of behavior problems.
