The American Red Cross is reminding communities as summer officially begins and people gather for holiday celebrations, patients are counting on the generosity of blood and platelet donors.
A news release from Green Bay points out that the Red Cross typically sees about a 20% decline in blood and platelet donations during holiday weeks, including Independence Day.
You can ensure a stable blood supply by donating in the coming days.
The first opportunity to do so is next Monday, June 27th from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Shoreline Credit Union at 4400 Calumet Avenue.
Another local blood drive is Wednesday, July 6th from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Manitowoc Senior Center located at 3330 Custer Street.
There are several ways to set up an appointment to give the gift of life.
You can call 1-800-RED CROSS, visit RedCrossBlood.org or download the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
