Nearly a week after the major storm ripped through Eastern Wisconsin, the cleanup efforts continue, especially in Sheboygan.
But, one Sheboygan man is praising the generosity of a Manitowoc couple who looked to help in the immediate aftermath.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, lives on North 8th Street in Sheboygan and said the couple was in Sheboygan last Thursday on a shopping trip.
“They drove through this area just saw all the damage and stopped to ask if we were in need of anything,” he explained.
The couple said they would “stop at a local fast-food restaurant and pick up a couple burgers or something like that if we were in need of it, Which I thought was very generous and it just shows the kind spirit of many of the people of the Lakeshore, in this case from Manitowoc.”
The man also told us that his home was without power for about 23 hours, but that others hadn’t gotten power back until Friday afternoon.
The clean-up efforts do still continue in Sheboygan.
“The streets are cleared, so traffic can flow through the street where we live,” the man revealed. “Although, there are a number of street in town that, due to the large trees that were felled, that are still closed. I believe that most of the power has been restored.”
The man also told us that some workers from Fond du Lac came to his neighborhood to help local crews get everyone back on the grid.
As far as the trees are concerned, the trees may be out of most of the roadways, but now the biggest job is getting those trees removed.
