Cy Young Award-winner Corbin Burnes stopped the Cardinals on two hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings Monday night.
The 2-0 victory vaulted Milwaukee back into first place in the National League Central Division, one game ahead of the Cardinals.
It was also the team’s fifth win in a row.
Neither side offered much offense but Tyrone Taylor’s two-run home run to center field in the fifth was all Burnes needed.
Closer Josh Hader returned from paternity leave to pitch a scoreless ninth and preserve the win with his 20th save.
The Brewers will start Chi Chi Gonzalez tonight at American Family Field.
Coverage of the Brewers/Cardinals game will begin at 6:35 p.m. on 107.9 FM WOMT.
