The Packers have waived third-string quarterback Kurt Benkert leaving the team with one open spot on its roster.
Benkert signed with Green Bay in May of 2021 and played in just one game.
In Week 14 of the season on a Sunday Night Football game against the Bears, starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers suggested to head coach Matt LaFleur that Benkert should be allowed to take his first-ever snap in an NFL game.
He actually took two while kneeling in the closing seconds to end the victory.
Benkert had been with the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons before coming to the Packers.
