The Wisconsin Department of Justice has released some more details regarding the recent shooting of a man by an Oconto County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The incident occurred on June 8th, at around 2:40 p.m. on Highway 41 in the area of Frog Pond Road.
SGT. Jordan Longsine pulled over a vehicle that was reported to be driving recklessly when the driver got out of the vehicle.
The unidentified driver had suffered an unspecified injury, which SGT Longsine began addressing.
Then, 27-year-old Dakota Coleman exited the passenger side of the vehicle, armed with a knife, and approached the Deputy.
Coleman reportedly refused to comply with commands, leading to SGT Longsine firing his weapon.
Coleman died at the scene.
The driver was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The DOJ is continuing to investigate the incident.
