Kewaunee County scored single runs in the first and fifth innings to edge Manitowoc 2 to 1 in the American Legion baseball opener at Luxemburg Casco.
The game was originally set for Municipal Field, but it had to be moved north due to unplayable conditions.
Legion starter Jacob Gallagher suffered the loss despite pitching 4 hit ball over 6 innings and allowing 1 earned run with a walk and 3 strikeouts.
Nathan Stephany of Kiel worked a scoreless 7th with a hit allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
Offensively four players, Reece Stangel, Ashton Portmann, Ridge Guyette, and Daniel Schmitz, each went 1 for 3.
Coach Kevin Stangel’s team is scheduled to host Germantown tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m.
