Two graduates from Sheboygan North High School actually received two diplomas recently.
Of course, they got their high school diploma, but Charlie Rechtfertig and Jacob Swigert also received their Associate Degrees from Lakeshore Technical College through its College Here & Now program.
Much like UW Green Bay’s Rising Phoenix program, College Here & Now allows students to study college courses while also attending high school.
Rechtfertig and Swigert joined the program as sophomores, and admitted that they were challenged by the coursework, but also said it prepared them well for the next step on their educational paths.
Swigert will attend Lakeland University in the fall where he will be able to complete his bachelor’s degree in computer science in two years while Rechtfertig will major in Computer Science at UW-Madison in the fall.
