For the first time in history, both the president and vice president of the U.W. System Board of Regents are women.
Karen Walsh was selected as president and Amy Bogenfeld as vice president when the regents met Friday in Milwaukee.
Both women were unopposed.
Walsh is the third woman to head the Board of Regents since the U.W. System was established 48 years ago.
She has served as the board’s vice president for the last year and she assumes the position previously held by Ed Manydeeds.
