Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has appointed Sun Prairie tax attorney Don Millis to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
Mills will fill the vacancy created by the resignation last month of Republican Commissioner Dean Knudson.
Millis is returning to the commission.
He was one of its first members when the WEC was created in 2016.
The commission is scheduled to meet Friday when a new chairperson will be selected.
There had been speculation that Vos would choose Michael Gableman, the former state Supreme Court justice who has been overseeing the taxpayer-funded review of the 2020 presidential election in the state.
