Summer is here! School is out and routines are changing. And, not surprisingly, program schedules are changing at Manitowoc Public Library, also!
This summer—as was the case during the non-summer part of the year—we will be having storytime geared for preschoolers on Tuesdays. The time, however, will be shifting ever so slightly to 10 AM. And in anticipation of having a larger crowd of story lovers during the warmer weather months, we’ve decided to take our show on the road.
We kicked things off on June 7. Seeing as it was our first time venturing out this year, we kept things close to home base with a storytime on the Library Lawn. June 14 will find us taking a walk on the wild side at Lincoln Park Zoo. We’ll go to see Bernice the Cow at Cedar Crest Ice Cream Parlor and Factory the following week on June 21 and on June 28, we’ll be communing with nature at Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve.
Preschool storytime is planned for kids 2-5 years old with longer books, songs, and flannel stories. Older siblings are always welcome! Bring your own chairs or blankets to make sure that everyone’s comfy and has a spot for settling-in. Should there be any inclement weather on these days, we’ll return to the friendly confines of Manitowoc Public Library and hold storytime where it’s nice and dry and perfectly safe.

Storytime for the Even-Littler Ones—2-years old and younger—will still be held on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM. Caregivers with their toddler or baby can enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and bounces together in our Balkansky Community Room. No registration is required for any of our storytimes.
Studies show that the best predictor of school success is a solid vocabulary and a love of reading. That all starts on the laps of loved ones sharing a great picture book.
When you come right down to it, it doesn’t matter if you’re young or just young-at-heart—everybody loves being read a good story.
We look forward to seeing all of you at either of our storytimes!
