Brewers closer Josh Hader gave up a pair of runs in the ninth inning as Milwaukee dropped a 3-2 decision to the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night.
Hader hadn’t surrendered a single run in his last 40 regular season appearances.
The Brewers had carried a 2-1 lead into the ninth inning but had no reason to doubt that the league’s best closer would nail down the win.
Instead, he gave home runs to Alec Bohm and pinch-hitter Matt Vierling.
It was the second straight game where the Phillies came from behind to win on late-game homers.
