Madison city engineers say they don’t believe a downtown building is at risk of imminent collapse, but they cite structural concerns for the decision to close it.
That’s the third time it has been closed.
The 12-story structure at 131 West Wilson is home to several offices and Paisan’s Restaurant.
The owner filed for a demolition permit last month.
Temporary shoring posts were installed last year but they weren’t going to be a solution for the problem.
Developers are already planning a 14-story building at that address, but it won’t include a space big enough to accommodate a restaurant like Paisan’s.
