Members of the Dane County Board of Supervisors have signed off on plans for an investigation into the way Madison’s Henry Vilas Zoo is operated.
There have been allegations of mistreatment or neglect of animals, racism by the zoo’s management, and the presence of a hostile work environment.
Although the board supports it, County Executive Joe Parisi issued a critical statement last week comparing the proposed investigation into the election probe conducted by former State Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman.
If Parisi vetoes the investigation, supervisors could try to override it.
