The Packers will hold joint practices with the New Orleans Saints in mid-August before the teams meet in the preseason.
There are split opinions about the value of taking this approach.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn’t like them, but head coach Matt LaFleur sees some value in practicing against somebody other than teammates.
The joint practices will be about the only time Green Bay’s veterans see any significant action before the regular season.
It’s also a chance for the rookies to get their first snaps against other NFL players.
Packers fans are going to have the chance to watch two of the team’s mandatory minicamp practices next week.
Tuesday and Wednesday sessions will be open to the public and free.
Thursday’s practice is going to be closed, as will Green Bay’s final three organized team activity sessions the following week.
