A big 3rd inning helped the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers take game one in their six-game home series against the Peoria Chiefs.
The Chiefs held a 2-1 lead entering the third frame, but the Rattlers plated four runs, and held on to secure the 5-4 victory.
It was not Justin Jarvis’ finest outing, as he allowed all four Chiefs runs in his 3 and two-thirds innings of work.
Three Rattler pitchers combined to allow no more runs through the final five and one-third innings, but only struck out two more on the way.
The win coupled with a 6-1 loss by the Cedar Rapids Kernels against the Lansing Lugnuts moves the Rattlers into a tie for first place in the Midwest League’s West Division.
The Rattlers and Chiefs are back at it again today at Fox Cities Stadium, where the first pitch will be thrown at 12:10 p.m.
