The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers bounced back yesterday as they beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels 5-1 in Iowa.
Both teams went without a score through the first four innings, before the Rattlers broke the seal with a single run in the 5th.
However, it was a big 6th inning that secured the win for the Appleton-based team, as they plated four runs, and held off a late rally attempt by the Kernels.
First baseman Wes Clarke and Outfielder Carols Rodriguez each batted in a pair while starting pitcher Justin Jarvis struck out 9 batters in his six and two-thirds innings of work.
Five more strikeouts were recorded by Kent Hasler and Robbie Baker, as the Rattlers moved back to within one game of the Division-leading Kernels.
Game three of their six-game series is set for this evening at Perfect Game Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with Russel Smith set to take on Sawyer Gipson-Long on the mound.
