After postponing the meeting for two days, the Kiel Area School District’s Board of Education held their regular meeting last night, albeit virtually.
The agenda did not include a discussion about the ongoing investigation into three students who have been charged with sexual harassment, but there was time set aside for public comment.
The boys reportedly had repeatedly used the incorrect pronouns with a student who preferred to be referred to as they or them.
One parent named Cary spoke up during the meeting and called on the community to let the district and police do their jobs.
Another woman, only known by the name of Sally, called for the “media circus” to stop, so the district can “get back to the business of educating all kids.”
She also said, “The goal of the investigation is to arrive at the truth of the situation. How can the district do that if they are being terrorized by death threats and bomb scares? Nobody knows the whole story and we should allow the staff to continue to do their own work.”
The full details of what led to the students being charged have not been revealed, and no suspects have been named in the investigation of the two bomb threats.
