There was another bomb threat at Kiel Middle School yesterday.
The Police Department once again received an email threatening the school with explosives, and once again the motivation was noted as being related to the three students facing charges after using improper pronouns with a fellow student.
The threat was received at around 7:40 a.m., and classes were canceled.
Just like with the first bomb threat, no devices were found.
In-person classes are canceled for today as well as teachers prepare to begin virtual instruction tomorrow.
Police Chief Dave Funkhouser called the situation “disheartening” and asked the public to “calm down”.
The State Department of Justice and the FBI have been called in to assist with the investigation.
Some parents in the district are calling for the charges against the students to be dropped, while other parents say the situation is about more than using the incorrect pronouns.
Bullying has reportedly been a major problem at the school, with some students being the target of homophobic slurs and harassment to the point of them going home crying.
Kiel Superintendent Brad Ebert has stated that as per District policy, they will not comment on any student matters.
