Bail is set at $300 recognizance for a 32-year-old Manitowoc man after fleeing police and hiding in a friend’s home.
James D. Hagenow is charged with Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
An officer was on routine patrol early Sunday afternoon when he saw Hagenow, whom he recognized from previous police contacts, in the 2600 block of Dewey Street.
Once the officer informed him that he had an active warrant in Sheboygan County, Hagenow fled on foot, momentarily eluding officers in a wooded area of Felician Village.
Officers then went to his last known address in the 1100 block of Green Street, where Hagenow and another man were heard talking about how he had eluded authorities.
Officers knocked on the door and were told that Hagenow wasn’t there and that they weren’t allowed in.
He was eventually found hiding behind a bookcase and taken into custody.
No conditions of bail were issued and Hagenow is due back in court for a preliminary hearing next month.
