The Manitowoc Police Department was involved in a foot chase over the weekend.
An officer was on a routine patrol in the 2600 block of Dewey Street just before 1:00 p.m. Sunday, when he saw a man known from prior police contacts.
The officer learned he had an active warrant in Sheboygan County, so he approached the man. When the officer told the man he had a warrant, the suspect fled on foot.
The officer took chase and called for backup.
The suspect was successfully able to elude police after entering a wooded area on the south side of Felician Village.
Officers then went to the man’s last known address in the 1100 block of Green Street, where they heard the suspect and another man having a conversation about how the suspect was able to evade capture.
Officer knocked on the door, and the second man answered, but he told police they were not allowed in, and that the suspect was not there.
The officers did go in and used a battering ram to enter two locked rooms.
The suspect was found hiding behind a bookcase in the second room.
He has been charged with Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
