Northeast Region Shooting Competition This Weekend
More than 500 young people and their families will converge on the lakeshore area this weekend for a Northeast Region Youth Gun shooting competition. The event is hosted by the Manitowoc Gun Club at 3112 Clover Road in the Newton area through Sunday.
Tom Schultz is the public relations director for the Pheasants Forever Manitowoc Gun Club Scholastic Clay Target Invitational.
He says, “The youngest are probably as young as ten and it goes all the way up to college teams coming here. They come from across the state and the Midwest, our 3rd annual event. There are three different events: trap and skeet shooting at the Manitowoc Gun Club, along with a separate event out at Joe’s Sporting Clays in Kellnersville. “
The triple challenge, as its’ known, will include a sporting clays competition at the range out in Kellnersville.
Schultz added this about the event, “It just outlines the safety and the youth that are involved in the shooting program. If you want to just see safety in gun shooting and how popular it really is, I urge the public to stop out, have a burger and observe it. It’s fascinating to watch the youngsters as they come up through the years.”
Tom Schultz says these young people and their families are actually spending quite a bit of money in our local economy, whether it’s staying at area hotels or eating in local restaurants.
The public is welcome to attend and there’s no admission charge.
