The Village of Denmark has officially become the newest member of the Central Brown County Water Authority.
The two groups held an agreement signing ceremony yesterday at Gatherings 43 in Denmark.
This agreement also affects Manitowoc, as the CBCWA gets its water from Manitowoc Public Utilities through a 65-mile water transmission pipeline.
The Authority paid for a state-of-the-art water treatment facility, which has helped keep Manitowoc and Brown County’s drinking water cleaner.
Design of the connection point between the Village’s water system and the Central Brown County Water Authority system will begin this year, with construction beginning in the spring of 2023.
Denmark Village President Susan Selner called the deal “exciting” as she noted the ongoing water quality concerns in Denmark.
In fact, one of their two existing wells is over 80 years old, and can no longer produce enough water to meet demand.
Authority Board President Sarah Burdette was also excited, saying “It’s something we’ve been planning for and we’re looking forward to serving Denmark residents and businesses.”
