One of the Manitowoc Police Department’s most loyal officers, and one of their cutest, has retired.
K9 Major has been with the Department since 2015 and has been with his same handler the entire time.
K9 Major was trained in narcotics and patrol work and has assisted officers with many drug finds and arrests in his career.
K9 Major was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in January of 2020, and veterinarians initially gave him only 4-6 months to live.
However, with the help of generous donations and exceptional veterinary care, K9 Major defied the odds and served another two years with successful treatments.
K9 Major will be remembered for his very friendly personality, and he lived up to his initial assessment given by his kennel trainers as, “a love hound”.
Congrats K9 Major and enjoy your retirement.
