A Wisconsin coalition of conservation organizations is calling on Congress to pass the bipartisan Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.
It would dedicate $1.3 billion a year to fund science-based wildlife action plans.
The bill has the support of committees in both the U.S. House and Senate. Wisconsin would receive about $18 million annually.
It currently gets only $900,000 of federal funding for its wildlife action plan each year.
Supporters are hoping the legislation gets a vote before Congress leaves Washington for its summer recess.
