Locally-based and out-of-town musicians yesterday donated their immense talent for a cause five thousand miles away.
A Benefit Concert for Ukraine was held at the Franciscan Center For Music Education And Performance in Manitowoc.
Ukrainian-born Stanislava Varshavski organized the special 2-hour concert that also included heartfelt stories of four women with roots in the eastern European country which has been under Russian siege since late February.
Following the concert, Stanislava expressed gratitude during a conversation with Seehafer News.
“I am happy with all the musicians who donated their time and talent, and I’m so grateful for them doing this,” she expressed. “I am happy for people who came and heard the stories from people who have families and relatives there.”
All donations from Sunday’s local concert will be earmarked for those in need in Ukraine.
Stanislava explains, “All donations go to Catholic Relief Services for housing and supplies [for] the refugees who are outside of Ukraine and for displaced people are in Ukraine right now who need help.”
The concert began with a special arrangement by the Varshavski-Shapiro Piano Duo and ended with a sing-a-long of the Bill Withers hit ‘Lean on Me’, led by the daughter-father duo of Rissel and Roberto Peguero.
