An Iowa County jury has found a mother and daughter not guilty of causing the death of a teenager who was in their care.
Laurie and Alexis Barry had been charged with one count each of first-degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime.
13-year-old Selah Kaden had been living in the Barrys’ Mineral Point home when she died four years ago.
Defense attorneys successfully argued prosecutors failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the injuries that led to the girl’s death were the result of abuse – or that the Barrys played a role in her death.
