With the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) continuing to affect domestic and wild birds alike, the DATCP is taking action.
A new order from the state organization prohibits the movement of domestic birds to all live events, including shows, exhibitions, and swap meets.
To date, HPAI has been detected in 18 counties, including Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, and Oconto Counties.
More than 3 million poultry have been put down since March 14th due to their infection.
Poultry owners are strongly encouraged to continue practicing strict biosecurity and, when possible, keep their flocks indoors to prevent contact with wild birds.
You can learn more about the timeline of events by visiting the DATCP website.
