Carl Francis Wartick, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Two Rivers, on Thursday, April 7th, 2022.
He was born on April 3rd, 1932 in the town of Niagara, Wisconsin. He remained in Niagara until he joined the U. S. Navy in May, 1950 at the age of 18. There he traveled to many exotic ports of calls, including: Hawaii, Japan, Spain, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. However, his best port of call would have to be Puerto Rico where he met the love of his life, Carmen Augustina Sineriz. In August 1953, they were married and remained so for the next 57 years until she passed away in June of 2010 from cancer. They shared a long and wonderful life together. Carl and Carmen had 9 children.
After 20 honorable years as an Electrician’s mate in the Navy, Carl retired as a Senior Chief. He was very proud of the time he served, and influenced 5 of his kids to join the military.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; seven sons, Dale Wartick of California, Ken (Lisa) Wartick of Arkansas, Carl (Beth) Wartick Jr. of California, Dennis Wartick, and Bruce Wartick, both of Manitowoc, Rodney Wartick of Niagara, and Steve Wartick of Manitowoc.; one daughter, Mayra (Jill) Short of Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Wartick, Natalie (Alesha) Wartick, Amanda Wartick, Jennifer Wartick, William Wartick, Levi Short, Owen Short, and Noah Short; seven great-grandchildren, Kayleen Wartick, Madalyn Wartick, Sierra Wartick, Thatcher Wartick, Foster Wartick, Aubrey Speight, and Aiden Speight. He is further survived by step-children: Patrick Short of Iowa and Tina (Ed) Spinks of Florida; one brother, Tom Wartick of Pembine; several brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale W. and Vina (Amond) Wartick; an infant son, Gary; his sister, Deloris (Groy); and two brothers, Don and Clarence (Red).
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Rev. Jason Blahnik will officiate at the memorial mass. Military graveside services will be held at the church immediately following the mass by members of VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends Saturday at the church from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
