WOMT radio was Named “Radio Station of the Year” for a Medium Market and “Social and Digital Operation” of the year on Saturday night.
This is the 3rd year in a row for both prestigious honors from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
A 2nd place award was earned for “Best Hard News-investigative” reports that presented the emotional plea from an Afghan interpreter entitled “Give Them the Opportunity to Live”.
One of the 1st place awards was in the “Best Spot News” category for coverage of the Champion Mishicot Girls basketball team and their triumphant return home.
WOMT Radio was also awarded 1st place for “Best Public Service Announcement” 1st place for “Best use of Audio” in a news story.
Another 1st place award for “Best Significant Community Impact” for the Holiday “Giving Tree”.
With the return of the 2021 Manitowoc County Fair, WOMT hosted several 5:30 p.m. updates and was presented a 2nd place Award for the “Specialty Programming” broadcast.
Then, the award-winning Sports Talk received a 3rd place accolade in the same category.
1st place award was also presented for “Best Live On-Scene reporting” from the Remember the Fallen ceremony.
On the Social and Digital side, a 1st place award for “Best use of Social Media” for the “Facebook Frenzy” promotion, and 1st place for “Best Online Breaking News Coverage” for reporting on the Manitowoc Public School Teacher Assault.
“Best Web Story” for a story on the Afghan Refugee crisis and a 1st place Award for the “Remember the Fallen” webcast which was hosted by The Coolest Coast.
In total, the team of writers and producers for WOMT and SeehaferNews.com were recognized with 28, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards over 21-categories.
