A special Benefit Concert for Ukraine will be held later this month in Manitowoc.
The concert is set for Sunday afternoon, May 15th in the Franciscan Center For Music Education and Performance at 6751 Calumet Avenue.
All money raised will be designated for Ukrainian refugee supplies and housing with Catholic Relief Services.
Ukrainian-born Stanislava Varshavski says that musicians are “willing to donate their time and talent” to help the cause.
Stanislava will be joined on stage by Russian-born Diana Shapiro, also known as the Varshavski-Shapiro piano duo.
She told us that her own family is safe, but explained we can’t ignore what’s happening in Ukraine.
“After more than two months, we have 5.5 million refugees who fled the country and 11 million more displaced people inside of Ukraine… People lost everything,” she said.
Varshavski added, “It is amazing how they defend their freedom.”
Tickets for the benefit concert on May 15th are available online at fsmep.org, hfconservatory.org, or at the door.
Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth, and $7.00 for seniors.
