
Sargento Foods on Plymouth has announced its acquisition of another cheese maker in Eastern Wisconsin.
One of the largest cheese producers in Wisconsin purchased Baker Cheese Factory, located in St. Cloud, which is halfway between Sheboygan and Fond du Lac.
The details of the agreement have not been made public. Baker Cheese was founded in 1916 by Frank Baker and was family-owned up until the recent purchase.
Sargento CEO Louie Gentine said the acquisition will help his company unlock “new pathways for our portfolio, processes, and employees.”
All 250 employees at Baker will keep their jobs but will now be a part of the over 2,000 employee strong workforce at Sargento.
