Manitowoc Lincoln rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to defeat Notre Dame 3-to-2 last night in boy’s high school baseball.
The win allowed Coach Bruce Steinbecker’s team to stay in the FRCC title chase, improving their conference record to 7-2, and 8-3 overall.
The visiting Tritons pushed across an unearned run in the first and made that lead stand up until the 5th, when Ashton Portmann singled, Ben Walsh drew a walk and Gavin Lettenberger laid down a beautiful bunt for a base hit.
It was misplayed, allowing the tying run to score.
Moments later, Brayden Steinbecker laced a run-scoring single for the lead, and the 3rd run scored on a fielders’ choice groundout.
Noah Wech pitched the first 4 innings for the Ships before he was relieved by Brock Peterson.
Brock worked the final 3 frames and earned the win, pitching around a no-out, runner at 2nd situation in the top of the 7th.
Lincoln travels to Pulaski this afternoon before returning to Municipal Field to host Sheboygan North tomorrow.
