The next time you are in Door County you can feel free to step outside and take a deep breath of the air.
Federal regulators have confirmed – it’s cleaner.
The EPA says the portion of that county north of Sturgeon Bay will be re-designated as attaining the National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ground-level ozone.
Federal officials give credit for the improvement of pollution control measures that have been followed in Wisconsin and upwind areas, including Chicago.
The air has been monitored since 2019.
