The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service has announced its approval for Wisconsin’s plan to expand food benefits for young children statewide.
The plan calls for sending out 2021-2022 pre-six pandemic electronic benefits transfer, known as P-EBT, for children under the age of six as of September 1 of last year who are not enrolled in school.
To be eligible, households must be members of FoodShare.
According to a Tuesday release from the Department of Health Services, FoodShare households with children that qualify do not need to do anything to receive these benefits.
The families will receive letters notifying them of how much assistance they are receiving for the September 2021 to June 2022 period, with benefits being issued in mid-July.
