The Packers went defense first as the 2022 NFL Draft got underway, picking a pair of Georgia Bulldogs in the first round in linebacker Quay Walker and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt.
Despite all the talk about trades and moving up or moving down, general manager Brian Gutekunst stuck with picks 22 and 28 Thursday night.
Walker is called a playmaking, speed linebacker who will be a nice complement to De’Vondre Campbell.
The 6’ 4”, 241-pound Walker was timed at 4.52 in the 40 at the NFL Combine.
CBS Sports says defensive lineman Wyatt “has a chance to be a special player.”
Walker and Wyatt were starters on the second-best college defense in the country.
