The WIAA Board of Control in Stevens Point has voted to require schools hosting Tournament Series events to charge admission in a number of spring sports.
The board approved the action Tuesday during their April meeting.
Tournaments affected by the decision, in addition to girls soccer that already requires admission, include baseball, softball, and track and field.
A news release explained any school electing not to charge admission at the gate will be able to host regionals and sectionals but won’t receive reimbursements for hosting or payment of licensed officials.
In a similar action, the WIAA board approved starting a $9.00 admission this spring and for future State Boys and Girls Golf Championships.
