It’s not really a good bet to expect the Green Bay Packers to be selecting players at numbers 22 and 28 in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft starting Thursday.
That’s not how general manager Brian Gutekunst has done business in the past.
In his first draft, he traded back once, then traded up so the Packers could take cornerback Jaire Alexander in 2018.
The next year he traded back into the first round so he could draft safety Darnell Savage Junior.
A year later Gutekunst traded up four spots so he could get quarterback Jordan Love.
There’s just no predicting what the GM is going to do later this week.
Meanwhile, at least four Badgers could hear their names called starting Thursday night during the Draft.
Pro Football Focus has released its final draft prospect rankings.
The top overall ranking for a Badger goes to linebacker Leo Chenal at number-36.
Offensive lineman Logan Bruss checks in at number-111, linebacker Jack Sanborn is number-200, and tight end Jake Ferguson is listed at number-205.
There are no guarantees so those players will be glued to the broadcast through Saturday – or until they hear their name called.
