The Brewers finally won Sunday’s pitchers’ duel on a Christian Yelich sacrifice fly in the 9th inning 1-0.
Milwaukee won despite coming up with only three hits and a walk in those 9 innings.
Starters Eric Lauer for the Brewers and Aaron Nola for the Phillies were untouchable.
Jace Peterson singled off former Milwaukee closer Corey Knebel to open the 9th, then Andrew McCutchen singled Peterson to third.
That’s when Yelich knocked in the only run of the game with a fly to left field.
Devin Williams got the win and Josh Hader slammed the door on Philadelphia for his eighth save.
A quirk in the schedule has the Brewers hosting San Francisco tonight with Corbin Burnes starting.
Then, the team travels to Pittsburgh Tuesday to open a three-game series there.
