The second annual Snowfest celebration in Two Rivers is fast approaching.
This summer extravaganza is actually a grand return of the original event, which was first held in 1937.
That event was organized after a group of construction workers in Two Rivers found a ten-foot mound of snow in the middle of summer.
Tony Sachse, who is one of the organizers of the event, was on the WCUB Breakfast Club this week, where he explained how this year’s celebration is going to be different from the first time around.
He said that instead of splitting the festivities up in two locations, the entire event will be held at Nashotah Park, which is where it had been held during its first run.
“It’s all the things you love from last year, just a little bit better, and a little bit bigger,” Sachse explained. “We are still going to have a great variety of food there, a great variety of music, both local and touring acts, and a bigger and more expanded kids area.”
While Sachse is excited about the event, he said they still need some volunteers.
“We have been blessed to have a lot of the local service organizations around the area step up and offer to help us out,” he said. “If you are a member of one of these organizations, or are just interested in helping us out, I would direct you over to our website, TRSnowfest.org, and click on the contact us tab.”
This year’s iteration of Snowfest will take place the weekend of July 22nd through the 24th, and the full schedule of events can be found on their website.
Also on the site is a store, where you can purchase Snowfest branded items such as shirts, headbands, and magnets.
