Students in the Madison Metropolitan School District will have to complete 90 minutes to two hours of independent learning every Monday so the school year can end on time.
That will make up for the lost class time when the district took a three-day pause at the end of winter break while COVID-19 cases were spiking.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction told the Madison district it will have to make up that classroom time.
Otherwise, classes would have to be extended past the June 9th final day of the term.
