Manitowoc Lincoln earned a road victory in boys baseball yesterday afternoon, downing host Ashwaubenon 11-3.
Senior Ben Walsh led the way offensively for the Ships with a 3-4 performance at the plate, including a bases-clearing triple in the 7th.
Bryce Erdmann added 3 hits with a triple and 2-RBI’s. Ashton Portmann started on the mound and gets the win after allowing just an unearned run in 4-innings of work.
Erdmann then came on to pitch the final 3 innings to pick up the save.
Lincoln, now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the FRCC, travels to Green Bay Southwest on Friday.
Runs were at a premium in New Holstein last night, where the Huskies edged Roncalli 1-0 in 10-innings.
The two EWC teams combined for only 5-hits, with the Jets getting 2 of those from Reece Stangel and Sam Zirbel.
Senior Ryan Fischer worked 8 strong, efficient innings during which he threw just 72 pitches.
He did not factor in the decision however as reliever Mason Gallas suffered the loss when New Holstein scored the game’s lone run on a 2-out error in the last of the 10th.
The Jets will host Sheboygan Falls in another conference game this afternoon with the 1st pitch at 4:30 p.m.
